In Baird's HISTORY OF THE HUGUENOT EMIGRATION TO AMERICA, p. 28:
"JACQUES DUBOIS, according to a family tradition, had held an important
office under the government in France, when compelled at the Revocation
to flee from the country. He left Marenne with his young wife BLANCHE
SAUZEAU, and their infant daughter [BLANCHE DUBOIS who later married
RENE HET] and an orphan boy named Daniel Mesnard. . .[They] made their
way first to Amsterdam, thence to the island of Martinique in the West
Indies, and finally to New York, where Dubois soon after died."
In his will, Baird says, debts from Martinique are mentioned.
Q. Does anyone have the abstract of the will? The source is stated as
Wills, NY, XIV, pp.121-123. Does anyone know how best to get a copy of
this?
