A thousand men were sent on an expedition to St. John's river and the La
Caroline settlement (later abandoned) in 1565. Among them is an officer
by the name of JEAN DUBOIS. The expedition is discussed, including
Spanish-French tussles over places like St. Augustine, in Baird's
books. Stay tuned. . .
And if anyone already knows whatever happened to this particular Jean
DuBois, please let me know.
