Hi Jean,
You have done a lot of work, and have much more to do according
to
your e-mail.
Have you ever run across the name Jean de Pâté in France,
especially
around 1700-1740. He would be in the French Marine. His wife
was
Claire Langlois born in Port Royal, Canada, but their son Jean
Marie
was born probably in France. She came home with her young child
to
find him (the father) dead. 1740-(1).
I did get a history of the town of Patay in Orleons, and they
suggested a link with the bishop of Chartres around 1232-as Jean
de
Paté who was from the family Pâté ou Pasté de Malsherbes.
There are lists of Pâté's around France, but I haven't been able
to connect anyone yet. Of course, je ne parle pas bien Francais.
