Boy do you guys and gals know how to hurt someone. My mouth is drolling and the eyes are tearing for the fond memories of sitting around the fire, whiskey bottle close at hand, with my dad and uncles watching them do the szalonna. It was always my cousin and I that got the call to get more bread, onions, green and red pepper. Then one time as I got older Dad said "get a stick Dick", and the uncles made room for me. Wouldn't let me do the whiskey for quite a few years. It was like making First Communion. I was being accepted as a "Magyar". It has been a far to many years since I've "sult szalonna" but believe me, it will be done before winter comes.
