Edith,
As someone born in Hungary & christened in the Református faith, I can
tell you that it is synonymous with Kálvinista or Calvinist. John
Calvin started this Protestant faith in Switzerland. He had disciples
from Hungary, Holland & Scotland (John Knox who went home & called the
religion Presbyterian). The Dutch Reformed Church is what they call it
in the Netherlands.

All of us are adherents of John Calvin's philosophy, so you can
interchange the name Calvinist, Presbyterian, Református or Reformed,
and you're basically referring to the same religion. I live in Canada &
our church in Vancouver is called the First Hungarian Presbyterian
Church in English, but the Elsö Vancouveri Református Templom in
Hungarian.

I hope this clarifies the matter for you!

Judy
