Correct, Janet,
"néni" has nothing to do with "né". It can also be added to given
names as well as surnames; if we have Anna Kovács, one can say
Kovácsnéni, Annusnéni, Nacanéni, etc. (Naca being the nickname [one of
many] of Anna).
