Thank you! Yep Joe you are right, when I go to the alternate spelling
(gipsy) it shows: gipsy, gypsy,(dzsin, pszi), n, cigany. And right under it:
gipsy music, n, ciganyzene. And I agree with you, Dr.Bardos, I have never
seen it spelled that way either. The dictionary says: Szerkesztette, Dr.
Bernolak Imre, Edited by I. Bernolak,Dr. rer.pol.,Dr. iur.,4th edition-
Negyedik kiadas, Ottawa, 1957. And speaking of music, I also found one of
my grandma's 45 records:Kovacs Apollonia, ciganydalokat enekel, lakatos
sandor, zenekaranak, kiseretevel. The label is Qualiton, Louisa Csardas,
Budapest, Made in Hungary (Nyomdakiserleti). The list of songs: Ciganydalok,
sung by Apollonia Kovas: Ki tancol a kocsmaban, Leestek a teli havak, Mikor
mentem Szovatara, Fozok neked szaraz bbot, Elvittek a ciganyokat, Ket
kolomper, Mulatok, mert jo kedvem van, Alacsony haz. Sandor Lakatos and his
Gipsy Band (note the spelling). Now if I only had a record player for 45, I
could tape it and maybe send it out to all of you.Cauti

Hungarian-English Dictionary. When I look up 'gypsy in the Magyar side, I
find what I always new as gypsy 'cigany'. But when I check the English side,
under gypsy I find:gypsy,(lasd): gipsy. When I look up 'lasd' it says it
means 'see!'. So what am I missing here? Cauti
