Dear Listers,

I am researching my Mother's Grandmother and her family. My Great-grandmother, Edelka Huszar (or one of the above spellings), came to the United States in 1889. She was born March 9, 1871 in Faherzeglak, Budapest, Hungary. She was a concert Pianist.

Edelka's sister also came to the United States. She arrived in 1882. Her name was Katalin Huszar (or one of the above spellings). She was born October 11, 1857. City unknown! Katalin married Anton Kovascevitch and had a son named Anton. Both husband and son returned to Hungary without Katalin and were never heard from again. Katalin was a doctor in Hungary.

The differences in years of birth between the sisters means there could have been other siblings. Nothing is known about the family except their Father's name was W. Huszar (or one of the above spellings).

Where would I look in the LDS catalog to find the church that could have the family information? I realize the borders have changed a lot due to the wars in that region. Also, from which port would they have sailed to reach the United States? Is there a way to find personal information from the Conservatory of Music in Budapest for Edelka and from Hungarian records for Katalin's medical training?

Any information anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated. I have used other mailing lists in the past and have found everyone to be helpful and knowledgeable. By using their experiences searching for family history they have helped other researchers inch their way to finding lost family members. Listers are a selfless group of people.

Thank you, Dianne Bluhm
