Hi Donna
That is exactly how to do it. The Conner lists are typewritten extractions
-- that is, the name of each person working the land is typewritten under the
village name. Very easy to read and use.
The next step is to then order the actual census microfilms of the villages
you're interested in. These are preprinted forms filled out for the Land
Census -- column headings are in Latin. It is a *land census* -- so the
information provided is NOT on family members, but on how many acres are under
cultivation, how many grapes are being produced, and many ox, cow, sheep, goats etc the
person listed has on his farm.
The translation for some of the headings on the actual census are on the web
at:
http://www.jewishgen.org/Hungary/1828_census_Headings.htm
A complete list used to be on the FEEFHS web pages -- but are apparently
defunct at this point. Maybe someone else has a reference to a page with the
headings translated.
Regards
Linda
