Cheryl and Listers,
Thanks for replying. Do you find that the information on Genealogy.com
is any different from Ancestry.com.? I have a subscription to Ancestry, too
and it was somewhat helpful with USA searching but useless when it comes to
European villages or old world searching. I guess that's unless you are
from England. You are correct about the LDS, which was where I did get my
grandfather's baptismal records. However, I tried to get the microfilm from
Szaniszlo, Szatmar and all that was on it was Szabolc. Nowhere could I find
any mention of Szaniszlo except for on the box that the tape came in. It
was very disappointing and a long time wasted in searching. That's why I
feel like I've arrived at the "brick wall" for now. My father's family was
really vague about their past. My dad didn't even know the names of his
grandparents or whether his parents had any siblings. Its going very slowly
for me to search. Thanks for any ideas. Julie
