Hi Julie,

have some 'common' names like Pék (my mother's line), Nagy - and of
course Járfás, which I have been able to trace back to the 1780's. You
see I was born there, and in the neighborhood of where Szandi's question
pertains, county Vas - but more on the Eastern side. Back to the 1800's
everybody resided there somewhere, though on the maternal side I can't
find a few!:-) Also can't find the oldest Járfás' place of birth -
though he married in Ják, which was a tiny village just South of
Szombathely, where I was born.

Being in the neighborhood of Allentown do you have any connections
to Burgenland? Do you know about the Burgenland Bunch? Their web site
provides a lot of information and deals exclusively with Burgenland:
http://www.spacestar.com/users/hapander/burgen.html Will send this link
to Szandi too.
