Subject: [HUNGARY-L] church records

Dear List,
I have been viewing the church records for (Jolsva), today Jelsava, Slovakia
and have noticed that one film has the BMD records for the people living in
the town, and another film has the BMD records of the people who lived in the
surrounding area towns. I am assuming two separate books were kept by the
minister.
I recently went through another film looking for baptism records of my aunts
and uncles from (Sumjac) today Sumiac, who would have attended the
Evangelical church in Murany-Hosszuret. I went through the film 3 times and
didn't find anything. It appears that all the entries were for people who
lived in Murany-Hosszuret (today Muranska Dela Luka) and my family lived in
Sumiac. My cousin sent me a copy of his fathers baptism record, and the
stamp of the church is on it. Should I assume they did the same thing and
kept another set of books for people that lived out side of the town? LDS
only has that one film. Has anyone else ran into this situation. I know for
a fact they went to the church and have the documentation, at least for one
uncle, to prove it, but the church must have kept a separate book for people
who were from surrounding areas also, and LDS doesn't have it. What would
you do?
Thanks,
Joyce
