I had trouble accessing the link also. I did a search on the message boards,
and the following is a copy of Robert Jarin's post:

To all:

The Stephen Morse Ellis Island search web page has been taken off line!
This web page created a user-friendly and allowed many different parameters
to be used to obtain the immigrant ship manifest records at the

The Stephen Morse web page was located at:
<A HREF="http://home.pacbell.net/spmorse/ellis/ellis.html">http://home.pacbell.net/spmorse/ellis/ellis.html</A>; .

The Morse web page did an excellent job, much better than the
<A HREF="http://www.ellisislandrecords.org/">http://www.ellisislandrecords.org/</A>;

Ellis Island records org. has apparently decided that the Morse web page is
in violation of their terms of use and has notified him of such. Of
course the Ellis Island org is a well funded, large organization and thus
has caused the Morse web page to be taken off line!

Why has an organization such as Ellis Island org chosen to restrict such an
excellent tool to be taken from family researchers? Could it be envy or
money? One must believe this to be the case.

If you have used the Morse web page you know how valuable it became. If you
agree the removal of the Morse web page to be a detrimental action then
perhaps you should let Ellis Island org, the US Park Service and sponsors of
Ellis Island org know.

Perhaps you would like to consider sending letters protesting the removal of
the Morse web page to the following:

Ellis Island Records Org.

The National Park Service

Sponsors of Ellis Island site
