Have you read the book "Eclipse of the Crescent Moon" by Geza Gardonyi? Its
about the siege of Eger in 1552 when 2,000 Hungarians held off the Turkish
army of about 40,000 solders for 6 weeks. The book is about Istvan Dobo and
Gergely Bornemissza. Dobo was from Ruszka, in Northern Hungary. My
grandfather, Janos Hasak, came from DoboRuszka. Guess along the course of
time they renamed Ruszka, DoboRuszka after him! I will have to do some
checking on that. Its a very interesting blend of history and fiction. The
book also mentions the village of Zemplin
(28 miles N. N. E. of Tokay) where my Timko grandmother came from! I'm
learning so much about our Hungarian heritage! If you haven't read it, get a
copy. Its great.
