Why search Family History?
Hello fellow listers, since about Friday the Banat List has been posting many very interesting stories as to why a person is searching family history and doing the genealogy of their families. So I would like to propose that we do the same here. You will find that we all have a wonderful unique story.
My story is as follows: For many years I wanted to do a family tree but I was always told that I would not find any records for my ancestors because of the Iron Curtain. About ten years ago I heard from a friend that I would be able to find records thru the Latter Day Saints church. They microfilmed many church records and I now have the Josa side back to about 1706. I am mostly doing this for my satisfaction. Right now my kids aren't very interested in what I am doing. As to other relatives they are mostly not interested in what I am doing, but I get calls from them asking about so and so quite often. My wife also sort of made fun of me by saying when friends called for me and telling them he is at the LDS library searching for dead people. She now tells me to make sure I back up all that I find on the computer so all my research will be able to be passed on to my kids.
If you would like to see some of the submitted email on the Banat list on this subject look at the following:

Hope this helps,
