Hi Ann,
went on a wild 'goose chase' regarding all those 'xxxszentgyörgy's' but could
not find anything authoritative. Legend has it that many communities preferred the
name (as a patron saint) since it coincided with spring plantings and other field
work (April 24).
In 1910 there were 35 villages with ...szentgyörgy in their name, but -
surprisingly - your Borsodszentgyörgy wasn't one of them!!:-) That village then
was called Disznósd (piggied!:-)) and only since 1935 got its name changed to
Borsodszentgyörgy (its inhabitants had to be the butt of jokes from near and far).
Your Namet name likely comes from Németh, so you should direct your research
along those lines.
