Dear List,
In reading death documents form the 1840s I came across something I had not
run across before. The name of the deceased child may read Janos. The
fathers name will read Janosnak and the mothers first name Kristinak. What
is the "nak" ending mean on the names of the parents?
Also, a couple words kept popping up in front of some names. For the life of
me I could not figure out the first letter. Did not look like anything I had
ever, even remotely, seen before. The word was ?uleteti. 2 dots over the u.
First letter may have been a P or perhaps F. I tried to figure it out in
other entries, but so far, no luck.
The 2nd word that I can't find a meaning for looked like hitvello or
hitvelle. This minister was a sloppy writer.
Thanks again,
Joyce
