Hi Beth!
How interesting that you are actively involved in Hungary's progress through=
=20
helping your relatives and attending the upcoming conference of Hungarian=20
American Educators in DC.
Tourism will be one of Hungary's greatest assets for years to come.
One of our trips there included an organized trip to Holl=F3k=F5 for lunch g=
iven=20
by the town's women in 3 of their own homes. It was a humbling experience.=20=
=20
We also did this in Krakow, Poland. Depending on how large your bed and=20
breakfast will be, it's possible you can negotiate with this well known U. S=
.=20
tour company and exact their business. Some tourists are trying to get away=
=20
from the beaten path and mundane hotel stays. Most of the Hungarian village=
s=20
are so very quaint they lend themselves to a B&B. It's refreshing to see the=
=20
villages in their nearly original surroundings. My father's village has a=20
13th century church and a 12th century chapel. The chapel has a 2nd floor=20
formerly used as a monastery; unfortunately the religious were slain during=
=20
the Turkish invasion.=20
=20
Regarding the paying of Hungarians for their research, how can this be done.=
=20
An International Money Order sometimes works for me and other times, it wil=
l=20
be returned to me almost a year later, not cashed. If we use you as a=20
conduit, it would
be a full time job for you. What are your suggestions?
You must be excited about the conference and meeting the Hungarian Ambassado=
r.
I had the good fortune to be at the right time and place in West Caldwell,=20
New Jersey. Their Rotary Club had sponsored surgery for a Hungarian child.=20=
=20
Hungary's former president, Arpad Goentz was visiting New York, and took tim=
e=20
out of his schedule to come to a Rotary luncheon to thank them. I had the=20
opportunity to meet him. I remember feeling very privileged. What a gentle=20
but convivial demeanor he had. The New York Times relegated his visit to NY=
C=20
to a small article, inside page. A similar thing happened this week when th=
e=20
King of Spain was visiting the US. It got very little coverage and just a=20
black&white picture.
Where is the inspirational awe in our newspapers? But, that's another=20
subject.
Good luck at your conference. I'm looking forward to your report to our Lis=
t=20
on your findings.

PS I don't have horrible typing, but in recent postings my Emails have been=20
shown
on the List all askew. Someone said it's my Video Card? This tower is=

only
11 days old.=20
