Dear List,
I love the list of Cleveland obits! While sorting through my paperwork I ran
across a letter that might be of assistance to some of you searching in Ohio.
I do not recall where I got this letter but I have sent for the
certificates, sending more than asked for as a donation, which they kindly
returned! :0)

"Did you know that you can receive Uncertified Death and Birth certificates
from the State of Ohio, for just THREE CENTS each, plus postage. The Births
would have to be from December 20, 1908 to present and Deaths from January
1944 to present. You can receive them for ANY county in Ohio. Send them the
Full Name, Dates, and places of Births or deaths, along with a check made
payable to Ohio Department of Vital Statistics. Do alphabetize your lists
and have a separate list for both birth and death requests. In addition,
enclose enough postage for the return of your documents. The times I have
sent for these, I enclosed a postage paid envelope. I sent away for over 270
certificates and I enclosed a $3.00 postage paid mailer from the post office
for the return. Be sure to put enough return postage on your return mailer
for the amount of certificates you are sending for. Mail your requests to
this address:

If you are searchign for Catholic church records and can't seem to find what
you're looking for, they may have the record or advice on where to look. In
addition, there is a list of all the parishes, with addresses, including the
ones merged into other parishes with dates for establishment and merger.
