On the 1920 fed census, my husband's grandparents' place of birth is listed as CHANARD. Language spoken is Magyar OL, (underneath is Hungarian, which has been crossed out). I have looked on every geographic name server I could find, and looked in old atlases at the library, and can't find it. I don't know any Hungarian to take the English spelling and put the proper Hungarian spelling to it.
Has anyone ever heard of this place?
Any help or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.
