Gloria,
A search on JewishGen's "Shtetl Seeker"
(http://www.jewishgen.org/ShtetlSeeker/) for "Neuaard" using the Soundex
system returns, among others, a town named "Neuerode" in Germany, 168.7 miles
WSW of Berlin. Also a "Nojorid" in Romania, 268.9 miles NW of Bucharest. The
German town may be a clue for you, since you wrote that your grandmother
spoke German. Also, you might be aware that areas of modern Romania were part
of the Austro-Hungarian empire before World War I. A search for "Neward"
brought up many more choices, including Neuwerth, Germany - 165.7 WSW of
Berlin. I think that "th" would be pronounced as a "t" or perhaps something
between a "t" and a "d."
A search for the name ZELLER on JewishGen's "Family Finder"
(http://www.jewishgen.org/jgff/jgffweb.htm) showed several Zellers, most from
Germany.
Hope this is some help to you.
