Subject: [HUNGARY-L] found relatives!!!!

About a year ago, I wrote(in Hungarian) to the mayor and the Luthern church of
my grandmother's village asking them to forward my letter to anyone with the
surnames I had listed. Well, lo and behold, just yesterday, I received in the
mail a letter from my grandmother's first cousin!!! She sent me a picture and
also told me that she takes care of the graves of my great-grandfather,( her
uncle) and other relatives. She told me that she had just got the letter I
wrote, and was very happy to get my letter. Luckily I was able to get the
letter translated into English.
I had pretty much given up hope of ever getting a reply. So now, to those of
you who only have the village name, go ahead and write the mayor, or the
church, because there is a chance that you will get a reply from someone.
I am planning on keeping in touch through letters, learning more about my
ancestors. I am hoping when I go to Hungary this summer, I can visit with
her.
All I can say at this point is--- don't give up! It was well worth the wait!!
