Hi to All,
Having a problem trying to find out where my grandparents came from in
Hungry. All I know is that they didn't fly. According to the 1900 census
they were born in Hungry as Janos Pal and Marie Hamala. They were
married there before coming to the states in 1874, they lived in New
York City so must have come trhough Ellis Island, were Naturalized in
1880 and were living in the Bronx when the 1920 cenus was taken. I have
written to the National Archives abd Records Administration and got back
the forms but then found out they do not have any records for the years
1847 - 1896. The last nma ewas changed to PALL henthey went trhough
Immigration ans was told to me by my mother many years ago. There is
only my sister and I so there is no help from any other family members.
I don't know where to find the Naturalization papers in New York City
due to the fact I don't know where it took place. Found plenty of "PAL"
at LDS but nothing with a Marie Hamala as his wife, have tried their
ship list but found nothing there as I don't even know what port they
sailed from.
This is about all I know that I can think of at this time. Any more
suggestions, I live in Texas so a trip to N.Y.C is out of the question.
