Today I received information taken from the 1900 death certificate of my
gr/grandfather Leopold Silhavy in Sabinov, Slovak Republic.... previous
information from his children's birth records indicated he was born in
Pohor, Bohemia.
He was born in 1853.

This record is written in Hungarian.
Parents of Leopold are listed as
father: Josef Silhavy
mother : Domina Anna Nagyova-Szkalova

questions-

I know why the -ova is added to her surname, but why is it hypenated?
Are those both her parents names (ie. Nagy is her father and Szkal is
her mother??) or was she married twice?

Domina is not listed in my Hungarian names book as a girls name.. I have
only previously seen Domina listed as a latin term referring to a female
doctor...
So is Domina a female name or is she Anna and Domina some kind of title?

Any ideas appreciated.
