Good evening all!
I am having a bit of a dilema. I am just learning the different
"characters" that I can use on my computer which will allow me to spell
Hungarian, German, etc., words correctly. I am trying to help myself,
and I am trying to use different translators so that I can try and read
a little Hungarian. However I am not having any luck. I don't want to
use the control panel to set the languages because I don't understand
that well enough to use it. And I don't see Hungarian listed as one of
the languages. For now I'd rather use the ALT key. I am a newbie:)
I can seem to get many of the letters I need, however I am either
unable to get some correctly. I am wondering if someone can assist me,
or direct me to a site that would have more information on doing this
available.
My main reason for doing this is because my gr grandparent's came from
the villages of Tåp (example of 1 problem...I know it should be a solid
dot over the "a"), and Ete. My cousin recently returned from Budapest,
and these villages trying to dig up information and grave sites. She
took many pictures. One which shows the Tåp sign, and one of a sign on
a church; the only church in Tåp. It appears that there are a few words
and a double, long column of a list of names. I can see everything
fairly well, so I'd like to try and translate it. The problem is, like
with the word Tåp, I can not make the right symbols, or I am not seeing
the correct symbol above the letter in order to make a translation with
any translator as of yet. The "a"'s appear to have one solid dot above
them, but I can not find a ALT code that makes that sign.
If anyone would like to, or can help me, I would deeply appreciate it.
Just so you know I have tried the sites, "The Translator's Guide,
Dictsearch, Web of Online Dictionaries, Magyar-English Dictionary,
(since my gr grandparent's were Maygar), and several others. I'm just
sure, for ine it's because I am entering something wrong, becuse I don't
have all the right characters.
Have a great night and weekend everyone...thanks a bunch!
