I've been reading this list now for quite some time hoping someone would
show a relationship to my surname, but so far no one has. My grandparents
immigrated about 1890 or so from Hungary. I am wondering if there could
possibly be such a surname from there or was it Anglicized on arrival from
Feldt or Falt (mit Umlaut) or something? Could they have resided in a an
ethnically German part of Hungary ? The only chance I had to ask my father
about such things (I was raised by foster parents), he said they came from a
town called Peez (that is what it sounded like). Any comments would be
appreciated because I have been "firewalled" by my lack of real family
contact in my search up to now.
