There are several avenues open to you if you know the name of the place and
the religion of your ancestors. If all you have is your father's death
certificate, you can start with the locality and parish indicated thereon -
although it cannot be assumed that their births and deaths will all be in
the same parish).

1. The preferred approach is to find these records on microfilm through the
LDS and make photocopies of the entries in the parish registers.
2. You can write to the parish in Hungary and ask for a certified extract.
3. You can write to the civil authorities of the place in question,
addressing yourself to the Anyakonyvvezeto at the Polgarmesteri hivatal (I
have omitted diacritical marks for those who read text only). They will
reply via the HUngarian Consular offices nearest you.
4. You can write to the Hungarian Consular offices nearest you providing the
information of what you wish to have.
5. If you know someone in Hungary, you can ask them to go in person and
obtain the documents for you.

Except for item four, all others are better dealt with in the Hungarian
language. Neither priests nor public servants have any reason to learn English.
