There was a period of time (particularly 18th century) when Biblical names from the Old Testament were extremely popular -- Jacob, Susanna, Abraham, Sarah, Rebecca, etc. This was particularly true amongst the Protestants who wanted to give their children Biblical names but not ones necessarily associated with Catholic Saints.

I have found this to be true not only with my Dutch Walloon families but with my Pennsylvania Dutch (German) and with my English Protestants.
