I don't know all the details, but at one conference I talked to
a person that had a DNA test to bolster their shaky genealogical
data for his Huguenot Society of SC application. But the
results showed that he was not related to the line after all.

I recently had the free DNA test from http://www.smgf.org/.
The data is still arriving, but so far I've been able to
determine that I am not related to one of the upstate SC
Timmons lines. So it has been useful to me in directing my
research.
