Oh Sara, oh Sara:
Please tell me where you found the Walloon Church in Stamford Lincolnshire
and if you know if there is a parish register available?
I'd be greatly indebted because I've just these last few days trying
to find something.
There was a footnote in a Huguenot Society Proceedings article that stated
during the time of Queen Elizabeth "There are said to have been two other
foreign settlements in Lincolnshire, one at Stamford,
founded in the reign of Queen Elizabeth, and the other in Sutton Marsh, near
the Wash, in existence in 1645."
Someone wrote to me and said, rightly, that Sutton-le-Marsh was on the coast
by Louth, north of Sutton-St.-Mary's (Long Sutton), and
Sutton Crosses, near the Cambridge border, but Sutton Marsh must have been
very close to the Wash.
Anyway, I have LE PLAs who were at Stamford and I'd dearly like to know if
there is a parish book in existence for the foreign Protestant community.
Regards -
Carol Markillie
