Hi again,
There is a person researching a family that mentions Lamy in the CD
"Huguenot Families Numbers One to Ten" It gives her name and address. In
order not to publish it in a forum, if you e-mail me direct, I will send you
the details
Kind regards
Richard Bell

Subject: [HWE] LAMY family of Spitalfields (London)
I wonder if anyone has any information about the LAMY family of
Spitalfields
(London) which could help me to trace the marriage of an ancestor, whose
wife I believe was a LAMY.
Edward Ellerm (1758-1837) came to London from Cambridgeshire, and by 1796
was living in Shoreditch with his wife Ann Rachel. Several children were
born
to them between 1796 and 1812, all christened in Shoreditch parish church.
There is no record of their marriage in the Shoreditch register, or in
those
of the neighbouring parishes of Christ Church, Spitalfields, Stepney or
Bethnal Green. The IGI doesn't help; nor do indexes of marriages and
marriage
licences like those of Pallot and Boyd.
When Edward's son John was apprenticed in 1811 John LAMY was a witness.
Fourteen years later John's first son was christened John LAMY Ellerm. So
clearly there was a close connection between the two families.
It so happens that an Ann Rachel LAMY (daughter of Daniel and Rachel, born
1
May 1769) was christened in the Huguenot chapel in Threadneedle Street,
London. The dates fit; could this be Edward's wife? (The marriage of
course
could not since 1753 have taken place in a Huguenot chapel; it's an
Anglican
marriage I'm seeking.)
There are lots of references in published Huguenot records and secondary
literature to members of the LAMY family in Spitalfields and elsewhere, but
none
that are relevant.
I'd be very grateful for any help anyone could give.
