LARGE.

The name is fairly frequent in the Saone-et-Loire and is also found in
the Dordogne. In old French it designated "a big man"
[broad-shouldered], it could also mean "generous". Diminutives are;
LARGEAU,LARGEAULT,LARGEOT,LARGET, double diminutive, LARGETEAU.

I hope my translation of Jean Tosti is reasonably accurate!
