Hi All:

The people we designate as Walloons in England were a very small part of people of Walloon descent in northern France; they once were a part of Flanders, before Belgium existed and Flanders's southern boundary was just below Amiens, France - this may clarify the confusion. Many of the people still living in that area, Roman Catholics predominantly, still consider themselves Flemish first, French second even though Flanders was a county of France and made an integral part of France in 1389 or thereabouts - I'm working on something else and don't have my papers regarding this on my desk.

Best wishes -
Carol
