Tony,

Thanks again for your rapid reply! :-)

You've made the whole tems issue much clearer. Thanks for clearing up
the issue of COLOMME and ST COLOMME. I guess that I don't have much to go on
there. From the sound of it, I should just put the tems aside and
concentrate on actually making a link back to Michel BARBIER.

I am still a little uneasy that there is only a single reference to
Michel BARBIER or Michael BARBER and that is only the recollection of a
granddaughter. What if she had her grandfather's name wrong? He would have
been long dead by the time she entered the French Hospital.

I have the will of Michael BARBER, gentleman of Fetter Lane, who died in
1782, but it frustratingly refers to his "loving wife" and his "devoted
children" without actually naming them!

In 1777, William BARBER, son of Michael BARBER of Fetter Lane, was
apprenticed to John WEBB of the Coachmakers Company. Again, there is no link
to my George or his (presumed) sister Mary.

I will continue to pursue the other avenues you suggested in your other
email, for which I am very grateful. However, it doesn't sound like I am
going to get far with the tems.

Thanks again,

Cathy Day
