My Dear Listers --

First, very belated good wishes to everyone for
2005. May this be the year that you find your
pot of gold at the end of the genealogical rainbow.

Second, this is a reminder -- yet again -- about
several of our list guidelines. Such as:

* Capitalise all surnames, both in your message
and in your subject line (guideline # 2 ).
You do want to make sure that everyone notices
the surnames you mention, don't you? This is the
easiest and most effective way to do it.

* When replying to an existing thread, change the
subject line if it no longer fits the content of your
message (guideline # 4).

* When replying to an existing thread, there is
absolutely no need to include all or almost all of a
previous post to the list -- that someone else has
written -- in your reply (guideline # 5).
In this case, delete all but a small portion or
<snip> of the previously posted info. The resulting
<snip> should be *shorter* than what you say yourself
in your reply. So if your own reply contains only a few
words, the <snip> shouldn't be paragraphs long.

Anyone who isn't familiar with our guidelines can
find them all here on our website:
http://www.island.net/~andreav/hweguide.htm in
your choice of four languages (English, French, Dutch
or German).
Again, New Year wishes to all of you. Your
list concierge, Andrea
