A little earlier than the labours of your cousin, but I have a note of a
William Sellon, Embroiderer of Saint Botolph Aldersgate, in 1700.
In today's terms being an embroiderer does not sound a particularly male
occupation. Could it then mean, perhaps, that he was the owner of an
embroidery workshop or retail business do you think?
This was before the days of the Jacquard Loom.
