Dear Karen, Lucky you I still haven't received anything from the list other than your message.I thought I would send this via the list to see if it gets through to you. Continuing our discussion. I must apologies for leading you astray. Re Woodhall Lincolnshire .On carefully checking there is a tiny village called simply Woodhall. "It is the parent village of Woodhall Spa(which has outstripped it in size and importance) and has a tiny church standing in a field with the old hall (now a farmhouse for companion) Much of the church is new, but it still has its curious old steeple - resting on high slender aches supported by butressesand with flying butresses soringing from the pinnacles to the to the spire. From the hood of a 25thcenturywindow ther heads of a man and woman look down on all who come here. Inside there is an 800 year old font bowl believed to have been brought here from a Yorkshire church" [Arthur Mee 1949.(in his usual flowery style)]
Pevesner reverals the dedication of the church St Margarets (hurrah this is the church you are looking for) he goes on to coroberate Arthur Mee's description of its site. Then I think the intersting thing from your point of view. Church Plate Beaker probably North European .
Haven't been to the library yet, but in penance for my original misinformation I'll go on looking for Jenter's. [I have lived here for over 30 years and thought I knew the county well !!] Lesley
