Hello All and the rest,
Yes fellows and fellowettes I have once again returned.
De Crespigny did I hear mention ?
There once was a Claude Champion de Crespigny, a
Captain no less born 11th September 1873 and died 18th
May 1910. Educated at Eton from 1887 - 1890
Joined the 2nd Life Guards on 3rd July 1895 and
eventually promoted to Capt. on 3rd February, 1900.
Mentioned in dispatches twice and awarded a DSO
Served in Nigeria and ADC to the Viceroy of India
December 1900 to January 1902. $th Baronet and had 5
sons.
And oh yes, master of things in the library of all
things Huguenot, Tony Fuller, I do have an interest in
anything to do with this Huguenot family up until the
above Claude.
In particular if became involved, or his immediate
ancestors, in shipping and therefore may have stopped
in to Grimsby, Lincoln to purchase sails from a certain
sailmaker.
The poor sailmaker man's daughter was "knocked up" and
there is a wild, and totally unsubstantiated rumour you
see err and that doesn't matter really.
Kind Regards,
Peter Leroy
