Hi, all --

Yesterday, Phyl was asking about getting a copy of the
book "A Family from Flanders" by the late John Peters
(which is a great book and I recommend it).

Unfortunately, though, this book has been out of print
for some time and, as far as I know, it hasn't been filmed
or fiched.
However, if inter-library loan isn't an option, there are
a number of sites for tracking down hard-to-find or
out-of-print books. Andrew has already mentioned
one (abebooks). You'll find some others on our HWE
website.
Go to the Beyond the Basics section at:
http://www.island.net/~andreav/beyond.htm then scroll
down till you see the Book Finders Online link. Click on
that and it'll lead to what I hope is useful info.

(There are also other links on the same Beyond the
Basics page, on a variety of topics, which might be of
interest.)

I also want to mention that the entire surname index
from the Peters' book was posted on this list way back
in January of 2000 (with the permission of Mr. Peters'
widow). Those posts are now in our archives and can
be accessed there.
You can find them via our Searchable Archives by
using Peters as a keyword. Or you can find them in the
Threaded Archives by going to the archives for January
2000 at:
http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index/HUGUENOTS-WALLOONS-EUROPE/2000-01.
First, check off the chronolgocial and date options at
the top of the page and then look for the following subject
lines/dates --
Index: Northern French & Walloon Names, A-E 16 Jan 2000
Index: Northern French & Walloon Names, F-L 17 Jan 2000
Index: Northern French & Walloon Names, M-V 18 Jan 2000

The only frustration I have found with Peters' book is
that, although he included a lot of fascinating historical
background, there is no index for any of it. The only index
is for the surnames which Peters himself was researching.

Hope this is helpful. Andrea
