main source: Jouanna, Boucher, Bilogui, Le Thiec, "Histoire et Dictionnaire
des guerres de Religion ,", Paris Laffont 1998, chapters iii and iv, p31-52
by Arlette Jouanna and biographical article on Calvin by Arlette Jouanna.

1521: First theological condemnation of lutheran doctrine by the Paris
University Theological faculty
1529-1532 At Bourges university studyng law, Calvin meets a lutheran master,
the German hellenist Melchior Wolmar and publishes a critical edition of
"De Clementia" by Seneca .

1533- Calvin helps his friend , University of Paris rector, Nicolas Cop
write his welcoming address for the autum seession which Cop gves on
November 1 1533 . Due to the very adverse reaction , Cop flees to Basle,
Calvin to Angoulême .

May 1534- Calvin renounces the ecclesiastical benefits he had since 1521

January 1535 Calvin leaves for Basle

March 1536 : Calvin publishes "Institution de la foi chrestienne" in latin
, 2nd much bigger version in 1536, french translation by Calvin in1541, last
latin version by Calvin 1559, last french version by Calvin 1560 .
July 1536-april 1538 Calvin in Geneva . Exiled, he publishes in Strasbourg
in 1539 "Aulcuns pseaulmes et cantiques my en chant ", the first psalm book
in french
1541 Calvin called back to Geneva where he stays till his death in 1564
The Geneva governing councils adopt on his proposition
"Ordonnances écclesiastiques" on the structure of the the Church
1542 Calvin publishes the "Catéchisme de l'Église de Genève" , short
version of "Institution de la foi chrestienne"

Around 1550- the Huguenot noun begins to be printed (from eyguenet, 1520,
from the German Eidgenossen (confederate) describing the Geneva people who
were part of the Confederation against the duke of Savoie who recognized the
independance of Geneva in 1530), source Dictionnaire Robert 1 and 2 at
huguenot and Geneva

The Huguenots in contemporary texts I saw called themselves "membres de la
Religion Réformée " ( The Reformed Religion), their Catholic opponents
called that religion la RPR, la Religion Prétendue Réformée ( Alleged
Reformed Religion) .
