Hi Deborah

There are references to Kilkenny in Charles Edmund Lart's 'Huguenot Pedigrees, Vol II', 'The Trail of the Huguenots' by George Elmore Reaman, masses of references to the place in 'The Huguenot Settlements in Ireland' by Grace Lawless Lee and references in Samuel Smiles also. You could also try I'reland's Debt to the Huguenots' by Revd. S J Knox and 'The Huguenots and Ireland', edited by Caldicott, Gough and Pitton.

Lawless Lee is a good place to start. The book is available, I think through Amazon. Also the Irish Section of the Huguenot Society, contact through the Huguenot Society's web site and I also think that there is also an Irish Huguenot Society, don't have any details.

Can't search for the name Large on by FTM Huguenot disk because it identifies the word 'large' every time it appears. Nothing on the family in Agnew I'm afraid.

As for the assimilation, last night's presidential Address at the Hug Soc AGM was about that very subject. But it added very little to the sources already published, many of which are referenced in HWE's archive. Good place to start is 'From Strangers to Citizens', the report of the Tricentennial Conference of the Hug Soc in London. It contains papers about the assimilation as does 'Huguenot Heritage' by Robin Gwynn, all worth reading.

Regards

Tony F
