Good !

Now that some sort of attention has been raised, may I
now twist this "subject" toward a real issue.

And that is the role of women in either the Religious
Reformation of France (and Europe) or more of interest,
a womans role in the founding of the Huguenot 'cause'.

I use the word 'cause' with some degree of doubt.

I am never sure as to just what the Reformation was. Is
being Huguenot a belief, as in a religious faith or
following ? Or, is being Huguenot, a follower of a
cause as applied to those from France ?

So!

The women of the Reformation with empahsis on those
Huguenot women or those associated with the 'cause'.

Marie DURAND, Suzanne MICHEAUX (nee: ROCHET), Isabella
d'ESTE and Catherine de MEDICI. Just a few of the women
noted with having played some part in matters Huguenot.

Now I know that we are not supposed to prompt, however,
I happen to know that there is at least one authority
on women Huguenots who is a subscriber. Carolyn is
usually very busy with the educating of the as yet
educated, and so may not have time to participate in
this subject ?

I hope that she does.

The question is simply who were the women that stand
out as being Huguenot 'pioneers' or played a
significant role from the times of Luther through to
the Napoleonic era ?

Secondly, is there any good source material for those
of us interested to seek out, so that we may come to
understand just how significant these women were ?

What were the essential differences between the
"Rights" of women in Huguenot society and those of
those who were Catholic ?

Are there instances of Huguenot women marrying Catholic
men and retaining their Huguenot faith.

Was there a great difference between Huguenot women of
the masses and thosed women of some minor nobility who
supported the Huguenot 'cause' ?

Was the use of the term 'Protestant' applicable during
the 14th and 15th century to Huguenots, or did it only
apply to 'Anglicans' ?

Many questions and hopefully many responses.

Please remember that theory should be based on fact.
That was once written on one of my dissertations by a
well meaning Prof.

Kind Regards,
Peter Leroy
