Hi Gwen and other Huguenot Hunters,

Family lore states that my Huguenot ancestors came to Ireland from
Wales. (c.1650) Wales is mentioned quite often by individuals in the
archives of this list as is Scotland. Both places are where my people
dwelt/rested? Neither are documented much if at all as places of
settlement or community for Huguenots. If they are then I have not come
across anything yet. I would be most grateful if anybody could give me
any info regarding H's in either Scotland or Wales. Of course, I
realise that parts of Wales are the closest hopping off place to Ireland
but the word in my family is that they CAME FROM Wales. Therefore I
presume this is accurate but have an open mind on this point.

Coral

Unless anybody else has one, I can't find and references to a French
community in Wales, especially at a time as early as that in which you
have an interest. Wales was, at that time, very rural, in northern
Wales almost primitive, very sparsely populated even in the south.

Stranger parents, Weaver, North Conesford ward. Nathaniel, West Wymer
Ward, Norwich, born in Norwich of Stranger parents, a weaver. Jacob,
Middle Wymer Ward, Norwich, born of Stranger parents, a hosyer (hosier)

that sounds very unlikely.
