Subject: [HWE] Huguenots Returning to France

Hello Fellow Listers,
Like many of you, I too have been exchanging email with
various other subscribers to this list, one most recent
exchange has brought me to ponder the answer to a
puzzle within our ancestry concerning those who
returned to France while the Wars of Religion were
still being fought.
To give an example, and I should add I suppose that one
cannot always choose relatives of the in-laws, I make
short mention of once such in-law type relative in
Henri de Rohan (1570-1638), French soldier, writer
..... blah blah.
Now it seems that Henri returned to France in 1601,
about the time one of our ancestors was toddling across
the channel in fear of life and limb. Indeed, this
ancestor was to marry a cousin of Henri, but that is
another story.
With some wonder we as a family have been looking at
some dates of birth etc. and in particular places.
It appears that some of our ancestors after packing up
shop etc. and leaving in the mid 1500's did return in
the early 1600's and onward.
I am wondering if this was a common event or were we
just homesick ?
Does any other subscriber have a story concerning the
return to France of an ancestor between 1560 and 1700 ?
If so what was to be their future and how did they
resettle ?
Hoping to hear from someone soon.
Kind Regards,
Peter Leroy
