Listers --
I am forwarding the following inquiry to the list, with the permission
of the author, Michael Welham (who is not a subscriber to HWE).
Michael sent his inquiry (re: Huguenots in the Netherlands) to
me personally. I have referred Michael to our list archives and to
sections of our website such as Huguenot Reading Lists at: http://www.island.net/~andreav/hugread.htm.
However, because I thought that some of our subscribers
might also have valuable suggestions/information to offer Michael,
I am forwarding his inquiry to this list. If you do reply to him, I hope you
will send a copy of that reply to the list, if you feel it would be of general
interest to subscribers.
By the way, Michael mentions that he is at "McGill.....in Montreal".
For those who may not know, this is McGill University in the city of
Montreal, Québec, Canada. Andrea

Subject: Inquiry re: Huguenots in Netherlands
I am moderating a study group for the McGill Institute of Learning in Retirement in Montreal. Our subject is Huguenot settlements following the revocation of the Edict of Nantes. I am looking for sources on the history of the Huguenots in Holland since that time i.e. where they settled? how they made their living? what influences they had on Dutch society? what are their descendants doing now? Are there books or articles on this subject available?
Please do not put yourself out on this. All we are looking for are pointers.
Thanks,
Michael Welham
