Has anyone had a similar problem ?
One of our little Huguenot ancestors has really caused
much discussion in our research team.
Without all the genealogy stuff.. Gilles (married to
Marguerite de Courcy) is born 13 November 1562 and they
have 2 sons and a daughter..so ok, ho hum.
One son and the daughter, Judict, are born in
Southampton. and the elder son is born back in Saint
Malo.
So they all toddle over to England.
Now here is the difficulty. One son actually wanders
back to Saint Malo to marry a local girl.
They have children and blah blah.
So! Wonder why they were not burned, drawn, quartered,
whatever as their parents were definitely Huguenot.
The other siblings stayed in England and married and
begat etc. Eventually after around 90 to 100 years they
wander back across the channel to Belgium and finally
back to Normandie and Bretagne.
So! does anyone have a similar occurence in their
family and if so, were they persecuted when they went
back to France ?
Regards,
Peter Leroy
