Subject: [HWE] Being Walloon ?

Now if you have been on this list for some time, it is
common knowledge that our dearest Admin type person has
a wonderful webpage which does actually answer some of
this question.

But as I haven't seen the URL posted for some time
[HINT], I am aking in this forum.

Just what is a Walloon and for that matter, what is a
Huguenot ?

And dont go giving me the one about persecution and all
that, it stands to reason that most would not be on
this list if they hadn't had an ancestor or 5
persecuted during the 'Wars of Religion'and I am sure
that we all feel sad for them.

What I would like to know is actually a question raised
some time ago by one of our own family researchers and
that was in the form of a short story.

Grandpa "Whoever" was either Catholic because he had to
be, or actually wanted to be, prior to say 1520. Next
thing we know his Grandson is Huguenot, wonder what
convinced him to change ?

And that is what I am asking in this forum.

What, or who, caused people to make such a change in
history and why called Huguenot and / or Walloon ?

Why not Calvinist or something else?

Are Huguenot and Walloon the same thing or is it the
same but different ?

Curiouser and curiouser

Kind Regards,
Peter Leroy
