FAO Sarah, Andrea,
Bonjour,
I do not know if it's a brick of the same wall, but we never know...
I'm french (sorry for my poor english), and do face a wall at Walincourt
(today north of France), circa 1682. In fact Andr CATTELAIN (aka CASTELAIN)
died at Walincourt, 1754 January 17th. We know for sure that :
- he was 72 years old
- he was huguenot, as the catholic church man wrote "L'an mil sept cent
Lambert cur"
- his son Jean Baptiste (aka Potelot) was huguenot, and was persecuted by
the french authorities http://www.multimania.com/huguenotspicards/sagas.html
- his descendants (down to me) were huguenots (protestants de l'glise
rforme de France) and remained in France
- they were "mulquiniers" ie linen weavers, dealing throughout europe, with
huguenot buyers
But we do not know where he was from, and if his family migrated during the
worst persecutions period in France.
There are CASTELAINs some 50 years earlier at Walincourt, there are some
CATELINs / CATTELAINs at Luneray (Normandie), and also some in Belgium
Regarding FREMAUX : We have a marriage at the huguenot church of Tournay
(Belgium) in 1780, August, 3rd between MACHU Henry (from Quivy 59) and
FREMAUX Anne Marguerite (from Montbrehain 02)
