Hello everyone I'm knew to this site..

My Grandmother's maiden name was Sprake...I have always been told that she was drawn from Huguenot lineage...Her father was Edwin Sprake born at Glasgow Scotland.appprox 1827....Apprenticed to an Iron Founder there..then sent into South Wales as Iron Master at Blaenafon Iron Works,,,He married Anne Williams born at Trevinick Monmouthshire...they had children among whom were Edwin...Laura...and Gwenillian..Gwenillian was my Grandmother born 1863 ....It is believed that Edwins 3xGrandparents fled the persecution of the Catholic Church in Belgium....My Grandmother worked as a Governess to a Lord of the Realm (possibly Lord Battley Buttly....Not quite sure...but it was believed that his family were also of Huguenot origins...My Grandmother certainly spent some time with her employer in France / Belgium as she spoke fluent French /German.as well as her native tounge of Welsh...She married William Flint in 1886 at Middleton By Wirksworth the place of my birth..My father !
Harry Sprake Flint was born 1894 He did not marry untill 1936..His sisters were named Amelia Leah Millicent Gertrude Laura Brothers John Samuel William James Sydney

Any help you can give..I would appreciate..as my family for decades have been wondering what the truth is..(Spraque is also used by some ..but in our case it is definitely Sprake)

Yours Stuart G Flint
