I have obtained the above list which is a copy of a document held at the
Municipal Archives under reference BMS GG 43.

It contains a list of about 1000 names, not unfortunately in alphabetical
order, of people who abjured during the period 1685 to 1699.

If anybody has good reason to believe an ancestor can be found in this list
I am happy to look up. Two names I have spotted which have been requested
on this list are POITIVIN and COURTOISE

Please send your request to the list with an outline as to why a search
could prove useful.

The offer will remain open until Friday 10th May and I will then carry out a
sweep of the list. I prefer to do this than look up individual requests.

Is anybody on the list researching or has information concerning the above?
I am particularly interested in Claude de la Tremoille and Charlotte of
Nassau who married in March 1598. I do possess a copy of a book "From the
Crusades to the French Revolution" which is a history of the La Tremoille
family but this does not help. I am more interested in finding details of
their household and staff.

The family I am researching, LERPINIERE were in some way connected with the
household and one member could possible have been Charlotte's governess.

So far I have found the name mentioned in several of the letters from Duc
Claude to his Duchesse wife Charlotte pleading with her to dismiss
L'ERPINIERE but it was to no avail as she was still there in 1608, which was
some four years after the death of the Duc.

I know this subject is raised on occasions by Andrea it still seems that
people do not understand how to reply to the list.

You must hit the "Reply All" button and then delete the address of the
person sending the mail. DO NOT press the "Reply" button as this only
connects with the sender.

It is possible for the list administrator to vary this so that the reply
button is directed to the list. In my view this is the best method. If
anybody else feels the same way I am sure Andrea would have no objection to
you letting her know.

Sorry to raise the point but as my system is set up I am likely to miss
messages not sent to the list. I receive hundreds of e-mails a day and I
have to have a system to filter out those I do not want.

Subject: [HWE]: Montpellier Abjurations Lookup (Garrigues)
Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed

Roy et alles,

I would like to request a lookup of the surname Garrigues or Garrigue. Baird
once claimed that my huguenot ancestor Matthieu Garrigues may have been a
refugee from Montpellier.

He was born about 1679 in Languedoc and his parents or other relatives may
be named in this list.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Can you confirm that? Thank you.

Thank you also for your advise on reply all. You learned me a lot today.

Kindly yours,
Mlaure Bellon

I assume that you mean in this case to delete your email address, which
I have done. I have also deleted most of the message you sent as per
instructions elsewhere. Have I done the correct thing? This is the
first I knew one had to delete the address of the person sending the
email which technically, I suppose is me. It's early in the morning
here and I'm, as usual, confused. Somebody put me straight please,
regards,
Coral CUPPLES Woon

Dear Roy,

The Huguenot family CAZALY from Languedoc Roussillon were dispossessed of
their property after 1685 in Sommiere near Montpelier. The matriarch was
named Marguerite CAZALY. Could you include the name CAZALY in your 10th May
scan of Montpelier abjurations

Thanks again

Penny Cazaly
